Dawning of a New Year
I had the chance to watch the sun come up the other day. From darkness suddenly the sky starts to light up and it's as if gazillion lights have been switched open to reveal a new day. I breathed in the fresh morning air and I couldn't help but feel happy. Mornings have that effect on me. Everyday I am thankful that I have been given another chance to be with the people I love and be able to do the things that I love doing. I am also grateful for another day to correct my mistakes and maybe start all over.
Everytime the year comes to an end, I always feel hopeful that the new year will bring new opportunities. Excited to find out what life has in store for me and my family. Always wishing and dreaming about what I can do and where I can go with my kids. Its a time when we plan vacations and holidays.
After the clock strikes midnight, hubby, me and the girls would jump around the house clanging our musical toy instruments and dancing around like crazy people. We usually have dinner at my parents house and drink champagne and hot chocolate. My sister would be there and now that my brother came home for a vacation - the family is again complete. We would be reminiscing about the past when we were kids and joke around who was the naughtiest, who did the most daring tricks. My mom and dad would each be cooking their best recipes and they would have a contest as to what tasted better. The kids would be dancing around and hubby would be twirling me around as if in a waltz. We are a crazy bunch - but you know it's when I am with them that I am at my happiest.
Many things happened to me this year, some unforgettable, some I want to forget, some I can't simply put out of my mind, and some I should remember but always forget, some made me laugh, a few made me cry, some made me feel excited and some made me feel all sorts of things at the same time.
This year I was surprised to "meet" a lot of good people here in the blogosphere. It amazes me that we could be oceans apart, come from different countries, speak a different language...but have a lot of things in common. Some of them became my good friends and some even become part of my extended family. Life is really full of surprises and I found it in a lot of corners too!
“Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!
This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!
I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!” - William Arthur Ward
Don't fret about the coming year...instead be hopeful. It's a time to shed old fears and weave new dreams. Let life happen with no fear... only acceptance that change is inevitable. We can only control so much so in our lives, so why spend those precious moments worrying? and lastly Live, Laugh, Love...it's the elixir of LIFE.
Happy New Year my dear friends!
