Click!

Were you able to watch Adam Sandler's movie 'Click'? I liked the film, not just because it was funny but because I could relate somehow. I know how busy our lives could get sometimes that we have little time to tend to what is more important.

I'm down with the flu since Saturday. I am at home lying in bed sipping lemonade with cough syrup for dessert as I sniffle, sneeze and cough while my head feels like it's about to explode! You wonder how I could even think about things like these when I should be sleeping this sickness off? Well that's what I'm wondering too. It could be because I slept the whole afternoon and evening yesterday that my mind seems more awake than ever. Or probably my life is suddenly on "pause".

So this is what it feels like, not to have anything planned for the day. Just lying down, watching old movies, waiting for the kids to get home safely, checking my mails and lurking some sites. I could get used to this.

In the movie Click, Michael Newman (played by Adam Sandler) is an architect who does not seem to get much free time to spend with his wife and two kids. He was given a special gift by Morty (Christopher Walken). A fairy-godfather of sorts he gave Michael a universal remote control that he could use on his life.

He could press 'pause' in certain moments he thought he wanted to last a little longer and 'fast forward' the unpleasant ones. As the story goes, Morty warned Michael to use the remote wisely and not to let it rule his life.

Looking back on my life I could pinpoint moments with my kids that I would want to "pause" and relive over and over. There are some bad times which I would like to "skip" and probably "fast forward". But all in all I like my life, as imperfect as it may seem, I wouldn't want anything changed, paused or fast fowarded. It's perfectly playing right now, the way it is.

This post was inspired by Shelly a wonderful woman I met here in the blogosphere who seems to be always up to something good. She does not need much introduction because a lot of people know her for her catchy and funny articles. She is always crusading for something and her most important one is the "Share a Square" that is the button you see at my sidebar. She crochets for kids with cancer and she's making waves with it. I loved her article on one of her Thursday Thirteen post called If my life was on videotape. It's a must read!

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. ~ Carl Jung

Like Shelly I also made a little poll myself. I just wanted to know what you guys think.

If you have the power to rewind, play and fast forward your life what would you choose?

Pause
Fast Foward

Hi Lisa,

Hope you get over the flu soon, it's no fun coughing and sneezing waiting for your head to explode and splatter bits of grey matter everywhere is it lol

I think there are times when we would all like to hit the 'rewind' button, but we can't undo what has been done. I'm happy just to let mine play :)

It's the memories we have, especially of children growing up, as well as photo's of them developing over the years.

Nice post my friend, God Bless

Excellent article, Lisa, and I appreciate the sweet words. I had not seen the movie "Click" but have it in our Netflicks queue now.
Sorry that you had that forced pause, but those are the moments that cause us to reflect. Your reflection was well worth it! However,I hope you are over the flu.
Sweet friend, your Jung quote could not have come at a better time. My husband and I both needed to read that this morning.
Thank you!!

Hi,
I think that without the bad (your flu) you can't appreciate the good...so if we speed through the worst times, will we ever be able to fully appreciate the best?
