through the eyes of a child
Home is the place where boys and girls first learn how to limit their wishes, abide by rules, and consider the rights and needs of others. -Sidonie Gruenberg
Do you remember your childhood days? Well I remember mine very vividly. I remember how happy I was and how much fun I had back then. Although I had some fights with my brother and sister, we always made up. My parents were very cool. At our home, we had a voice, we can speak up and say what we wanted but always with great respect for my mom and dad. My dad would always take us to the beach at least once a month and we would ride a boat and have picnics.
As a child I remembered how much my mom and dad loved me. They hugged me a lot. I was fed well and I had nice toys to play with. My mom would always tell me stories before I went to bed and I remember her singing a lullaby to put me to sleep. I guess that was why we grew up confident and happy kids. We knew we were loved unconditionally.
I am currently reading the life story of Dave Pelzer. It's a trilogy, it's called A Child Called "It, The Lost Boy and A Man Called Dave. It's a very moving story of a young boy who was physically abused by his mother. This book is a must read!
Reading this story reminded me of my important role as a mother. We, parents have the great responsibility of guiding our children and making sure that they are well-taken cared of. It is also our duty to help equip them to handle life and it's intricacies. How my children sees the world and how they respond to life is first experienced at home. Their childhood memories will keep them warm on lonely nights, my hugs and kisses will remind them that no matter how cruel the world could be sometimes, I will always be there to love and catch them when they fall.
