rip·ple1 : To form or display little undulations or waves on the surface, as disturbed water does.

Like it or not what we say or do in our lives affect others. Like ripples in the water, a single drop sends waves in the ocean of life. Simple gestures and words could make or break relationships, marriages, friendships and families.

Sometimes your smile could brighten someone's day. A frown could be breaking someone's heart without you even knowing it. A simple "hello" could be speaking volumes to that person who is very shy. And a small pat in the back could be a start of a lasting friendship.

I remembered a story someone sent me in the mail. It was about a boy who was about to commit suicide that day after school. He took home all his books from the locker so that his mom won't have to clean it afterwards. As he was walking home from school, all his things in tow, he suddenly tripped and everything went flying in the air. Another boy came over to help him pick up his books. It became a daily habit. Every day this boy would bring all his books home and this new boy he met would help him carry all his things. They became the best of friends.

On graduation day, the boy who was always carrying his books home was graduating top of his class. He was given the honor of addressing the batch for a speech. Everyone was suprised to hear what he had to say. "Today, I want to thank a friend. This friend saved my life. That day I was supposed to end my life, but this boy came along and became my friend. I was suddenly given a chance to see life differently. The world is not such a bad place after all. So to you my friend I owe my life and my sucess."

You can just imagine how his friend felt at that very moment. He never thought that his friendship meant so much to him. He never knew how much helping him pick up his books that day meant to that other boy. Now he knows that you don't have to be a doctor to save someone's life. You don't have to be a great man with astonishing accomplishments to become a best friend. Sometimes, you only have to be you. And that's all that matters.

Reflections on life

Our life cannot always be full of happiness but it can always be full of love!

He who is blind to the view of our souls, will not enjoy and see life as it is.

The more you plan, the less likely you will experience chance, therefore live life to the fullest.

A true friend is one who holds your hand and thus touches your heart.

When we get married, we won’t know what lies ahead
Until we hit the waves of life at sea.

Life is reality without an eraser!
Nothing in the future, will correct those moments that you have missed in the past.

Don’t waste time with someone who won’t support you in time of need.
Always look at the bright side of life. If there is no bright side, wait until the future turns to light.

Don’t cry over what has happened in the past, but be happy that you could enjoy the moment.

Always remember the words from a true friend:
“I’ll be there for you”

Work, as if you don’t need money.
Love, as if nobody has hurt you.
Dance, as if nobody was watching you.
Sing, as if nobody was listening.
Live, as if this was paradise on earth.

Don’t despair, the nicest things will happen to you when you least expects them...

And remember:
“Everything that happens - happens for a reason!”

“There's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”

dont u think this is bit impractical...
philosophically correct..but isn't this illusion of a perfect world perfect place..perfect person

also we always in search of true friend..but we dont see that first we have to get the truth in ourself that truth for others so we can see the truth in others...

@@@Pieter - thank you Pieter for visiting. Will check out your post about moment in life.

@@@Dream Catcher - i don't really know where your cynicism is coming from little brother, but i guess it is from something that happened to you in the past. something that made you distrustful. I have been there and it's not a nice place to be... getting out was the best thing i ever did for myself.

and as for true friends...know what? not all are lucky to find one. and if you ever do, don't let them slip away. i agree that before you become a friend to others you must first find yourself. and i hope you realize that very soon, you never know, your true friends might be right there all along for you to discover. =)

Its amazing the difference even just a smile can make.

very true sophiagurl but right now in these times..i m really at fix how to define the true friends word...

in the tough time when the true friend itself does something to hurt u more n more n he knows he is hurting u..but he is helpless stopping it...what to do..
is it the end of truth or what....
seems m sounding bit hazy here...

Nice post Lisa, some of which I can relate to in a slightly different way. True friends will put their life on the line for you, as my best friend did some 35 years ago when we were 18 year olds serving our country. True friends remain in your heart and mind forever, whereas many others who call themselves such, come and go. True friends remain loyal, no matter what, but they are also the ones that you trust the most and in return they hold the same trust, respect and love for you.
'Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.' Unknown author but often attributed to Albert Camus.
God Bless all, have a good weekend.

@@@Lisa Gates - Hi Lisa, glad to have you over. I had a hard time figuring out what my blog name would be, i figured it should be something about mommyhood, but a lot of the names i liked were taken already, this is the closest i got to what i want. hope you'll visit often. I'm glad Shelly sent me over to read yours, a lot of good things there.

@@@Sally - thank you for the visit. i'm still looking for those tiny grapes you featured in your blog. will tell you once i taste one.

@@@dream catcher - little brother, my heart goes out to you. it's really hard to find true friends and often than not when friendships are tested only a few pass the test. i have a lot of friends but i can only boast to having one bestfriend to whom i can tell everything that's in my heart, i never wanted to part with he's my partner in life. i'm talking about the hubby. don't be in a hurry to find your true friends, just keep your heart open when one tries to be one to you. it will be hard but taking things one step at a time will help a lot.

@@@Cotojo - thanks Colin, although I have never been asked to lay my life for a friend i know how loyal and true they must have been to do that for you. "true friends remain loyal, no matter what, but they are also the ones that you trust the most and in return they hold the same trust and love for you." - very true and a very rare find. God Bless!
